A soldier made history at Washington Place Tuesday.
Roy J. Macaraeg was promoted to the rank of brigadier general by Governor David Ige. He's believed to be the first Filipino member of the Hawaii Army National Guard to receive the honor.
Macaraeg enlisted in 1990, and over the past 29-years, he served at the Pentagon. He's also been deployed to Iraq, Kuwait and Kosovo.
