MANILA, Philippines — With the recent success of the men’s and women’s teams the past two years, the Philippine poomsae team is determined to win both events in the 6th WTF World Poomsae Championships set July in Vladivostok, Russia.

According to PH team coach Igor Mella, they are now in the final process of selecting the composition of the squad and there is a possibility that the players who won gold medals for the country will be included anew.

“The possibility is there. The women’s team is intact and we are working on keeping the men’s team together,” said Mella during the SCOOP sa Kamayan  on Padre Faura, Manila Friday.

“We’re also bringing in some new players. We still don’t know on who will be included. But one thing is sure, other countries are preparing hard too so we have to really be prepared,” Mella added.

Two years ago in Cairo, Egypt, the poomsae women’s team of Camille Alarilla, Rani Ann Ortega and Janice Lagman captured the gold medal that earned them the PSA Athletes of the Year.
