50 PHL books donated to Peking university library

Philippine officials in China have donated to the Peking University (PKU) Library 50 books on various fields.
“Because we want to provide you with a comprehensive and well-rounded view of the Philippines, we have brought here today 50 books on various fields - politics, history, socio-cultural, arts, literature, and foreign relations of the Philippines," Philippine Chargé d’ Affaires (CDA) Alex Chua said at turnover ceremonies at the PKU’s Philippine Studies Center on May 20.
“Through these books, we hope that the students of PKU will be able to understand and appreciate the complexities of the Philippines and the uniqueness of the Filipinos," he said, according to a news release on the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) website .
PKU’s School of Foreign Languages Vice Dean Zheng Qingwen accepted the books, the DFA said.
The donation aims to let PKU students understand the Philippines and its people.
Chua also told students of Philippine Studies at PKU who attended the ceremony that they play an important role in the future of Philippines-China relations.
“We in the Philippine Embassy in Beijing sincerely hope that you will be agents of friendship and understanding between the peoples of the Philippines and China," he said.
“We look to you to share with your friends and family the real Philippines, including its sincere desire to forge a stronger and deeper relationship with China," he added.
Philippine First Secretary Noel Novicio also gave an overview of Philippines-China relations while First Secretary Myca Fischer delivered a briefing on Philippines-China cultural exchanges. - VVP, GMA News
