Filipino painter Rodel Tapaya will hold this June his first solo exhibit in one of Beijing's upscale commercial and community centers.
The exhibit, entitled "This Beast I Have Become," will be held at the Y++ Gallery Triwizart from June 5 to August 7, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
"The works for this series are inspired by folk tales that have animals in the story ... Animals that do not only possess mystic magical qualities but also human attributes such as cleverness, helpfulness, loyalty," a news release on the DFA website quoted Tapaya as saying.
Tapaya, 30, studied painting and drawing at the University of the Philippines, Parsons School of Design in New York City and University of Art and Design in Helsinki.
He has had several solo exhibits since 2004, the DFA said.
Earlier, he had exhibits at The Drawing Room and Utterly Art in Singapore in 2006 and 2008, respectively. - VVP, GMA News
