UP Manila chorale wows audiences at UN in Geneva

The internationally-renowned University of the Philippines Manila Chorale (UPMC) did the country proud as it performed before the United Nations during its visit to Switzerland.

A  news release Saturday on the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) website said the UMPC performed in various venues in Geneva, including the UN's Palais des Nations.

"Their repertoire was rich and varied ranging from traditional Tagalog kundimans to African-American spirituals, to the delight of their audiences," it said.

Members of the choir also performed in concerts organized in Geneva by the University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Geneva (UPAAG).

According to the DFA, the choir was in Geneva until May 6, and then proceeded to other destinations in Germany and Austria.

The chorale will travel to Linz, Austria in June to participate in the International Anton Bruckner Choir Competition.

The UPAAG had organized the concerts in support of its Scholarship Program, benefiting students studying at the UP Visayas campus. — LBG, GMA News
